This hot spring is mysteriously known as the “hot spring of the sea in the middle of the forest.” There is a reason for this! The source of the hot spring is ancient sea water trapped deep underground due to crustal movement long ago. The salt content of the water from this spring is about twice that of the ocean, giving it one of the highest salinity concentrations of any spring in Japan! There are two sources for the geothermal waters, one yellowish-brown spring called Kin no Yu, and one with translucent one called Gin no Yu. Both of these springs are renowned for rejuvenating the bather.

The guest rooms include special wood-scented baths, and there are both luxurious western and Japanese-style rooms.

They serve traditional Japanese meals prepared with local ingredients. There is a rice dish made with organic additive-free maitake mushrooms that is particularly popular. Tofu made exclusively from local natural ingredients by the nearby Fusetsuka is also very popular. Come and indulge in the slow life during your time at Seiryu-kaku.
